I have never heard of it. It sorta reminds my of running through another teams goal posts LOL.
Dallas Braden blasts A-Rod for breaking unwritten rule - Big League Stew - MLB Blog - Yahoo! Sports
Has anyone ever heard of this rule? A-Rod was trotting back to first base from third after a fould ball and went across the pitchers mound and it obviously upset the A's pitcher Dallas Braden. I can't say that I have actually ever seen or heard of this rule, has anyone else?

It's just something you don't do. The mound is the pitcher's workplace.
Im with 60-6. I have heard of it, and generally its not that big of a deal.

I understand that there are things the hitters dont do, but theres also things that young kids dont have hte right to speak to one of the best players in the league like that either.

Braden's not a rookie. Besides, he had plenty of right to say it, and if Arod doesn't like it, knock the cover off the ball everytime you face him.

Braden has pitched 50 games, A-Rod is an MVP and one of the best players in the league.
If he didnt like what A-Rod did, okay, tell him. But act like Braden did? He has NO right to talk to a former MVP like that.
It goes both ways, if Braden doesnt like the way A-Rod plays, hit him when he is in the box.

It may be his work place, but he has to remember that he has to walk in the infield to get there so i would be careful on complaining about an infielder walking over it. Didn't here any infielders complaining about the pitchers walking over there work place.
The infield is his work place too. He doesn't go stepping in the batting box if he isn't batting. Hitting ARod doesn't prove much either. Striking him out does.

Agree with Strips on this one. But had never heard of the "unwritten rule". Sounds like whinning to me.
